Sunny Challenges and Creations Challenge Week 9

Welcome to my blog! This week has been fraught with dramas and problems with my blog, and thankfully I am now 'back on air' Before I share with you my creation for this weeks challenge I really must thank Libby Dyson for all her help in getting me back up and running when she is such a busy person with so much on her plate, but still made time to help me out. Thank you Libby! Onto this week's challenge which was created by our very own Vicky. The challenge was once again 2 part. The first part of the challenge was the sketch and the second part of the challenge was for us to dust off our heat guns and get out the embossing powders and do some heat embossing on out creation. I had a trillion thought go through my mind on what I was going to do, tried a couple and didnt like them so it was back to the drawing board! My card base was Very Vanilla, and I topped that with a mat of Lucky Limeade which I then  usedVersamark  the new Stitched Stockings stamp set. Clear embossing powder was sprinkled on top and then heated, so the base has embossed christmas stockings on it. I matted a strip of Very Vanilla that I has wheeled using the sparkle and Shine Jumbo Wheel and Lucky Limeade ink onto a piece of Choc Chip, and then stamped the tree from Contempo Christmas, cut around it and attached to that strip. I added basic rhinestones to the tips of each branch and also to the star on top of the tree. The sentiment from Contempo Christmas, I stamped using Choc Chip and also sponged the edges in the same colour. The ribbon I tied a bow then ruffled and attached to the bottom of the card using my trusty snail! I cant wait to see both Kris's and Vicky's creations, I am always in awe of what they do. So come along and play with us this week on Sunny Challenges and Creations and share your creation with us all!

Week 8 Card Share Sunny Challenges and Creations

Hi everyone, My apologies for being late with posting my creation for this week for Sunny Challenges and Creations. If you havent entered for this weeks challenge.....what are you waiting for?  Our daughter married on Saturday and things are only just now starting to settle back down. The sketch this week was done by Kris and the added challenge was to use the colours Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake and Marina Mist. The colour combination screamed 'masculine' so that is how I went. I used Crumb cake for the card itself then topped it with Whisper White which I had randomly stamped with the Confetti stamp set using Cajun Craze. For the centre band I laid a strip of Marina Mist topped with Crumb cake, then I cut a small Scallop Square using the Big Shot, and then laid it over the larger Scallop Square to make it a frame. I set that as a diamond on top of the centre band and it shows sections of both the band and the stamped background. I used Cajun Craze to stamp the image from Need for Speed set onto Whisper White which I backed onto a piece of Marina Mist. The sentiment is from the Short and Sweet set and I used Marina Mist ink on Whisper White card stock. I punched out the frame for this from the modern label and layered that onto another piece of Marina Mist. I was stumped for a bit doing this challenge, but the stam set Need for Speed certainly came to the fore! I hope you like my creation and be sure to check out Kris' blog and also Vicky's blog and have a look at their wonderful works!

Sunny Challenges and Creations 07/11

Hi all, This week at Sunny Challenges and Creations, it was my turn to come up with the sketch and the challenge. I thought that we would go minimal stamping this time round, with the only stamping to be the sentiment. Any adornemnt could be used on the front of the card as long as it wasnt a stamped image. For my sample I have used Melon Mambo base, and given it a mat from the Flirtatious DSP. Using both the 1 1/4' and 1 3/8' square punches  I punched the larger in Melon Mambo and the smaller in Whisper White. The Lucky Limeade card stock was used to punch out the leaves from the XL 2 Step Bird Punch one for each Whisper White Square. I cut strips 1cm wide of the DSP and concertina folded them, joined them with Tombow, and when they were 'set' I made them into mini medallions. The base was the 3/4" circle which I put Tombow on to which adhere the medallion. The top of the medallion I placed a basic rhinestone in the centre of each. I made a bow using White Taffeta Ribbon and placed it on the lower left hand corner, and the Sentiment was from the set Afterthoughts, using only the word Thanks This was stamped onto Whisper White using Melon Mambo and then I punched out a Scallop Oval the same colour as the ink and mounted the sentiment onto the card front using dimensionals. I loved making this card and I hope you like it soo and that you will also play along with us at Sunny Challenges and Creations this week, we would love to see what you come up with for this challenge! Bye for now....

A lucky Limeade Christmas!

Using a base of Lucky Limeade, I stamped it with the flourish from Season Of Joy. Next I took a piece of Riding Hood Red and ran it through the Big Shot using the Very Vintage embossing folder. I then took a smaller piece of Whisper White and also ran it through the Big Shot using the same embossing folder. This time though I took it out of the folder and layed it underneath and ran it through again. This was to flatten the embossing and make it softer but still give the cardstock a bit of a lift. I them stamped the Christmas Tree from the Season of Joy onto the Whisper White and I gave the stamp a different look. The sentiment from the same set was stamped on the top of the cardstock. The Whisper White was mounted onto a piece of Night of Navy and attached to the Riding Hoood Red layer. I made a small bow from Old Olive (that I had on my desk) and attached it just under the sentiment. To finish the tree off I added some basic rhinestones to the star and also to the lower limbs of the tree. You will notice that I deliberately left the upper branches bare. This card is just something a little different from what I have been showing this week, but I hope you like it. Bye for now

Thanks for Caring

Here is another card that I have made for the challenge at Sunny Challenges and Creations. You may have noticed that the other two cards that I have made for this challenge have all used the latest In Colours. This card is no exception and for the base I used the Wisteria Wonder, I lightly stamped over this using the same coloured ink and one of the images from Pocket Sillouhettes. I again use the Baroque Wheel and Wisteria Wonder ink on Whisper White and then I stamped just a couple of the butterflies from the Thanks for Caring set on it as well. Using Stazon I stmaped the All a Flutter Butterfly and then coloured it. I gave it a really light colour wash of Marina Mist and then used different colours to colour the wings and the body, and all this was done using my trusty Aqua Painter!
I attached the Whisper White to the piece of  Pool Party and on top of this I stamped the sentiment using Elegant Eggplant, sponged the edges lightly with Wisteria Wonder and attached it to a Wide Oval of the same colour. The ribbon I dyed from the Pool Party Classic Stampin Pad to ensure I had an exact match. I think it turned out not too badly, as these are not colours that I would normally reach for. I hope you like it, Bye for now.

Motorcycle Card Share

Today I am sharing another card that I made for the Sunny Challenges and Creations. Vicky was the creator of this weeks sketch and the only stipulation was that we had to use a wheel somewhere in our creation. Our wheels get forgotten when we get new toys to play with and this has really had me working hard to come up with something a little different, but at the same time sticking to the challenge rules. This card I decided to use the Motorcycle Stamp and make a masculine card. I took Very Vaneilla Cardstock and put a band of Calypso Coral on it and using the Baroque Wheel I 'wheeled' a piece of Very Vanilla and attached it to the Calypso coral. I stmaped the Motorcycle in Choc Chip and matted it onto a piece of choc Chip card stock. I then stamped the square scallop sentiment from Punch Bunch using Wild Wasabi. This was placed onto a bigger square scallop of Chocolate Chip. I punched to holes in the sentiment using my Crop -a - dile and threaded hemp twine through the holes and attached it to the back of the Calypso Coral. to finish the card off I took the Choc Chip Stamp n Write Marker and inserted it into my Colour Spritzer Tool and gave the front of the card a few puffs of colour. I really like the way the spatters show. I hope you like this as much as I do, Bye for now

Sunny Challenges Week 6 sketch and Card Share

This week at Sunny 'challenges and Creations  Vicky has supplied the sketch for us all to follow, and the only stipulation is that a wheel has to be used on our creation. Last week for Kris's sketch as my second card I used Friendly Words Jumbo Wheel (maybe I should've saved it). I decided that I would use the new In Colours this week. I stamped several of the large and small flowers from Vintage Vogue (you can never have too many on hand)  in the Calypso Coral which was the same colour as my card base. I also stamped some leaves using the new Lucky Limeade ink. The base was topped with Whisper White that was run through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. Using Basic Black Classic Stampin Pad I rolled the Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel across another piece of Whisper White, which was then matted onto a piece of Basic Black. The flower was placed at the top left hand corner of the wheeled section and the leaves were placed behind it using Tombow adhesive. A small rhinestone brad was placed in the centre of the flower and it was attached to the card using dimensionals. The sentiment was from Well Scripted and once again stamped in the Calypso Coral and backed onto cardstock of the same colour. I used a length of Pear Pizzaz ribbon to go through slots on either side of the sentiment and attached that behind teh wheeled section of the cardfront. I am loving the new colours and I am really pleased with the way this turned out. I would love to hear what you think too. Bye for now

A Quick Birthday Card

It is my son David's Birthday the end of next week, and as he works in Papua New Guinea I had to have it ready early to send off to him so he got it on time! He is a Marine Engineer so I thought I would use Sail Away for the front of the card. I know he will like it because he loves anything at all to do with boats and ships and the water! I chose a base of Crumb Cake and topped it with a mat of Night of Navy that I had swiped using the ink pad of the same colour. I topped this with a smaller mat of Crumb Cake and stamped the image in Night of Navy onto Whisper White. The sentiment is from the set Occasional Quotes and was stamped on Whisper White using Night of Navy ink also and I used the Modern Label Punch to punch it out then backed it onto a small piece of Riding Hood Red that I had run through the Big Shot using the Punch Windows. I placed a small black brad on each side of the label to give it a rustic look.
